  • Top Ten Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Site

There are ten steps you can use to help drive traffic to your website. By following each step to conclusion and working your way down the list, you can help direct more and more t

raffic your way, and the real beauty of the process is that you can repeat it as many times as you wish.

Step One: Craft a really good article. It needs to be directly relevant to your site, well written and interesting. The aim is to provide content that will benefit your viewers, and encourage them to visit your site for more information. Length should be between 300 and 500 words, and make sure the grammar and spelling are impeccable.

If you don’t have the time or the interest to write articles, you can outsource this job to a freelance writer or firm. Often the material on your site can be broken into categories to yield many different articles.

Step Two: Send your article for publication. Once you submit your article to one submission site on the web, others will rapidly pick it up and broadcast it to a larger audience. Make sure to create a summary about your article to submit with it, including a “Call to Action” section at the very end.

For example: “Whether you are a stay-at-home mother or a high powered business woman, you may find yourself struggling to get everything done in today’s high speed world. If there just don’t seem to be enough hours in the day, you need a crash course in time management. Step Three: Turn your article into a press release. This merely consists of rewriting it in a format that is pleasing to the media. Detailed instructions on how to do this and downloadable formats can be found at online if you search for ‘sample press release’.

Once you have completed your press release, you can submit it to free press release submission sites and post your information. Alternately, you can pay to have your release submitted if you do not have the time to devote to it; this step is important because press releases are picked up and distributed much more widely and rapidly than the original articles!

Step Four: Turn your article into a video. If you are not skilled with video production you can hire this out as well, but if you feel confident you can install a sound program and do it yourself. Record the audio portion, then add slides to cover the three to five bullet points of your article. Editing tools and training are available online for you to use.

Step Five: Video submission is very important. Create accounts at video submission sites like you did with the press releases and the original articles and download your video. Make sure to create a description for the video site so they know what your video is about. The results from video submissions are incredible. People love videos, and will tell their friends to check your video out!

Step Six: It’s a small step from video to podcast. ITunes has everything you need to start broadcasting your own ‘radio’ station and potentially reach millions. There are video tutorials at Apple’s site. You can publish your pod cast on iTunes as long as it is not overly explicit and contains no copyrighted material.

Step Seven: Blog your content. You can take the code from your video, and paste it into the code section of your blog. Copy your article and post that as well. This allows you to publish your article and video and create new links to yourself from blog search engines that will pick up on your new content.

Step Eight: Make a Squidoo Lens. Squidoo is insanely popular, incredibly easy to build option that uses your own video and audio content to drive more traffic to your site. Their wizard walks you through the process step by step. Squidoo is considered to be an authority site by the search engines, which means links that lead back to your site from it are fairly valuable.

Step Nine: Use social bookmarks to help boost your video links. Social bookmark sites allow you to save bookmark tabs online, just like you do on your browser. You can visit them from any computer. Title your links, create a description that includes your call to action, and add custom tags (these should be the keywords you are trying to promote). Ultimately, boosting your videos will boost your main site!

Step Ten: Repeat steps one through nine for every article on each of your websites. You will see your traffic increase as your articles and videos get additional exposure, and the more times you repeat the process the more success you will have!
