  • SEO TIPS: Distributing Your SEO Efforts – Google Isn’t Everything

There is a world outside of Google although you wouldn’t know that if you listen to number of SEOs. Bing and the lesser search engines that lag in the bottom percentage of use are often ignored, but should they be? Bing does offer opportunities to rank content and get traffic in ways that Google does not, and some of those “lesser engines” are pure gold for certain niches.

Google is considered the most important search engine, followed by Bing, Yahoo and Ask. These statistics are helpful because webmasters can direct their efforts better. They can now be more focused with just the big 4 search engines to deal with. The competition level is so high in Google that it becomes almost impossible for new websites to get good rankings. You have to explore alternate scenarios for success sometimes.

When you want to focus some of your energy on other search engines, you must remember not to harm your current rankings with Google in any way. Make sure the tweaks and changes that you make to your website to make it more friendly to other search engines does not sink you with Google. In some cases, it may not be worth the effort to lose your ranking in Google, which is capable of sending 70% of your website traffic.
Put some real effort into how you prioritize your efforts so that you get traffic from all the top search engines. Yahoo has essentially stopped trying to make new efforts to gain the market share so you may give them very little attention. Yahoo tries to take a portal based approach so its concentration is divided where as Google search is fully focused on various formats of search.

Bing is trying hard to win the market and has been very innovative in their tactics. At the rate they are growing, they are impossible to ignore. Therefore, it is high time to start concentrating on Bing so that when its market share improves even more, you will enjoy the benefits while others would have just started making their efforts to get good rankings.
