  • SEO Report – Article Marketing

http://www.jasonclegg.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/article-marketing-strategy.jpg Article marketing is a two pronged approach to secondary SEO. After you ahve your web content properly optimized, and link-building basics done (Directory submissions, etc) then you need to begin work on spreading your net further afield for more links and direct traffic regardless of the SERPs ranking of your actual site. The best way to achieve this goal is to start article marketing.

Article marketing consists of  writing articles centered around a main keyword phrase (usually a long tail keyword phrase) and posting the article on an article site such as Ezine Articles. The chances of gaining a good spot on Google are high thanks to the PR of sites like this one, and you can find your article popping up in search for your chosen phrase.

The article itself should be well written, optimized, and highly informational – this is your chance to start portraying yourself as an expert in your field. Positioning yourself as an expert means you are building trust by sharing solid information with your readers, who will then click through to your website. You are only allowed by most sites to place links back to your site in what is known as the resource box, at the bottom of your article, so it is important that you keep the reader’s attention through the whole article so you can get them to click the link and visit your website.

In addition to this direct traffic from the article to your site. you gain links from each article you post. Try to vary your article a little for each site you repost on, so the search engines don’t see multiple identical article scattered across the web. If submission takes too much time, have your SEO professionals do it for you. You can opt either to have them do the article writing and submission, or article submission only with you providing the articles. Articles should be around 500 words each, with the main keyword used 5-8 times and any secondary keywords used 1-2 times (3-5 secondary keywords max).
