  • SEO Recap – Forum Postings

We’ve discussed various ways to get back links – article directories, search directories, a blog, etc – and you can also get back links from forum postings. You can promote your website quite aggressively through forum postings, but you have to take care – this is one of the most abused link building strategies. There are thousands of forum posters who operate by spamming all the forums they can gain access to in an indiscriminate way. This is not approved practice, and will only gain you a bad reputation!

Don’t be blah, have something relevant to share in each of your forum posts!

Making spam posts in forums will get you banned from the forums and it will bring negative publicity to your website. If you want to get one way links from forums, you must first research and sign up for free accounts in relevant forums – and then contribute in a positive way. Usually, you will be able post links along with your message and you will also be able to add signatures with active links. Posting in forums will get you permanent one-way links. If you become member of forums with good page rank, you will be able to get better results out of your efforts.

Be awarre that many of the forums will require you to make a certain number of posts before you will be allowed to include active links in your posts and your signatures. Most forums are very strict about spam posts that are made just for the sake of getting back links, and this is one way they screen people. When you are posting in forums you need to be sharing relevant information, not just making a spam post so you can get your link. When you are replying in an existing thread, make sure that your post contributes to the thread in a positive way and let your link serve as a good resource for the people reading,

If you hire an individual or SEO firm to do the forum postings, you must make sure that they are not spamming. They should not make irrelevant replies or start new threads in irrelevant forums. This will ruin your online image and waste your money you are paying them as links from irrelevant sources do not add any real value to your website.

Obviously you should not use a boilerplate message in the forums, as such actions will lead to a negative amount of duplicate postings that can affect your online image poorly and cause some forums to ban you.  Restrict your forum participation to highly reputed forums to take advantage of targeted traffic that visits these forums. Reputed forums have high volumes of traffic and there are better chances that people will then visit your website if you provide them with useful information.

Remember, although forum postings can get you a number of good one-way links, you will not be able to use this alone for links – you should always have a multiprocessing strategy in place for establishing permanent one way niche links.
