  • SEO Report – Improving PageRank

Improving PageRank is pretty basic. Many webmasters, however, have no clue as to how to proceed. What is the answer to the question, “How do I improve my website’s PageRank? From the moment Google’s PageRank (named for Larry Page, co-founder) sprang to popularity, website owners have been trying to improve PageRank, or PR. Many spend several years to reach their dream PR number. How do you do that? What is the trick that will get the desired results?

Google uses around 200 factors to rank websites and to assign PR. Gaining good PR is achievable only by using an organic approach. One of the most important factors that will help you boost your website’s PageRank is link building. Google values websites with many back links and even assesses your website’s importance to a certain extent using the number of other websites on the web that are linking to you.

Why does Google use back links as one of the main factors? In the offline world, authors who want to establish their point while writing refer to the works of other writers, and for credibility’s sake, they referred only to other popular and creditworthy writers. Thus the later importance of a writer’s work was assessed based on the extensiveness of its usage in the literary world by the other respected writers. When we get links from authority websites and other websites with good PR, Google considers this as an indicator of the importance of your own website. This is one of the main reasons why people spend thousands of dollars on link building and in getting links from websites with high PR.

There are number of other factors, which help us improve our website’s PR. It has also been noted that the age of the website has a certain say in the PR. What has the age of the website to do with the PR? When it was understood that back links have a lot to do with the website’s ranking and search engine placement, lot of webmasters started misusing this knowledge by launching temporary sites creating a network for links. To curb this misuse Google’s algorithm has a way of associating the age of the website to its PR. So when you are trying to get links for your website to improve your website’s PR, try to get links from authority sites and sites that are well established.

Besides that try to get links from websites that are relevant to your website. It makes more sense for a logo design company to get links from a web design company than from a car wash website. Links from websites that are relevant to your website will be able to boost your pagerank better than links from unrelated websites. When you are handling your link building, make sure that you do it in a highly planned way to gain maximum benefit and to boost your PR faster.
